How Champion Pest Control Got Its Start in Ohio
Some businesses are built from a business plan. Ours started with one customer.
Dwight Holloway founded Champion Pest & Termite Control in October 2008 after spending over a decade working in the pest control industry. He had learned the trade well. He had outgrown the companies he worked for. So he went out on his own, landed his first client, and built from there.
Helen joined the operation in the evenings while still working full-time in banking. When she lost that job, Champion Pest & Termite Control had just picked up a significant contract with Columbus City Schools. The timing could not have been better planned, even though nobody planned it.
That is how Champion Pest & Termite Control began. And that is still how we operate: responsive, committed, and never too proud to do the unglamorous work that keeps a business actually running.

Champion Pest & Termite Control has been serving homeowners and businesses across Central Ohio since 2008. We work throughout Columbus, Pickerington, Reynoldsburg, and the surrounding communities, handling everything from termite inspections and treatment to rodent exclusion, bed bug control, mosquito management, and general pest prevention.
What separates Champion Pest & Termite Control from a lot of pest control companies is not a catchy guarantee. It is the standard we hold internally. Every technician on our team is licensed, even when the state does not require it. We believe that when you let someone into your home, they should be able to back up their work with credentials, not just confidence.
We also take the time to find out where a problem is actually coming from. Treating the surface and moving on is easy. Understanding the entry points, the conditions, and the seasonal factors that are driving pest activity takes more effort. That is the effort we put in.

Dwight and Helen both hit ceilings working for other people before starting Champion Pest & Termite Control. That experience shaped how they built this company. Champion Pest & Termite Control is not a franchise. There is no regional headquarters making decisions from somewhere else. This is a local business owned by people who live in this community, volunteer in it every December, and give a percentage of profits back to it through ColumbUS GIVES.
Being a Black-owned pest control business in Central Ohio comes with its own set of realities. The industry has not always been the most diverse. Standards have to stay sharp. But it also opens doors with clients and partners who are intentional about who they work with, and that has been a genuine part of our growth in recent years.
We are proud of what Champion Pest & Termite Control has become. And we are just as proud of where it is still going.
