Insect saliva, droppings, and decomposing bodies contain allergy proteins that cause allergic reactions. You might be suffering from pest-related allergy symptoms and not even know it. An experienced pest control professional can identify subtle signs of an infestation, remove the pests, and help you prevent future infestations.

Bed Bug FAQs

Bed bugs are rusty, brown-colored, oval-shaped bugs, about ¼ of an inch in length.

Bed bugs are not a sign of uncleanliness. They are “hitchhikers” that travel from place to place on human belongings like bags, suitcases, and used furniture. Bedbugs can be found almost anywhere their host can live.

Bed bugs are visible to the naked eye, but they can hide in cracks and small spaces. If you’re worried about bed bugs, thoroughly check your mattress, headboard, box spring, and the area around your bed. You can use a credit card to check cracks and small spaces.

Bed bug bites can also alert you to the fact that you have an infestation. While painless, the bites cause visible welts and inflammation. Bed bug bites tend to bite areas of your body that are exposed when you’re sleeping—like your neck, arms, and legs.

The best way to get rid of bed bugs is to call a pest control professional. A state licensed pest-control technician can perform a thorough inspection of the infested area, create a custom designed treatment plan, and prevent the infestation from spreading to other areas of your home.

Termite FAQs

Termites are small (about the size of a grain of rice), light-colored, and winged bugs that live underground or in nests made of wood.

One of the most common ways that termites enter homes is through wood-to-ground contact. Termites live underground, and they can get into your home through door frames, deck patios, porch steps and cracks in your home’s foundation.

Termites are hard to spot since they are extremely small and live inside your home’s wooden structures. Here are some signs that you have a termite infestation:

  • Discolored or drooping drywall
  • Small, pinpoint holes in drywall
  • Wood that sounds hollow when tapped
  • Maze patterns in walls, floor boards, and furniture
  • Piles of wings left behind after swarms

Proper termite extermination involves a poisonous termite bait that is carried back to the colony where it spreads quickly to all the other worker termites and eventually the queen, destroying the entire nest. Champion Pest & Termite Control is a certified Sentricon specialist of the Sentricon System—the leading bait system for termite control.

Never try to remove termites yourself. Disturbing a colony of termites will cause them to scatter and begin building nests in other parts of your home.

Cockroach FAQs

Cockroaches in Ohio are typically brown or reddish-brown with long, oval-shaped bodies.

Cockroaches are attracted to any type of food that has been left out. They are also attracted to warm, wet areas like crawlspaces and the area under your sink.

The best way to get rid of cockroaches is to call a professional exterminator. Many cockroaches are immune to store-bought treatments and even commercial pesticides. Champion Pest & Termite Control exterminates cockroaches with a pesticide that is safe for you and your family, but strong enough to be effective against roaches.

Mice & Rats FAQs

  • Seal all entryways
  • Trim tree branches and hedges near your home
  • Store food in sealed containers
  • Remove possible food and water sources

Mice and rats are exceptionally good at hiding, but they leave behind evidence that can alert you to an infestation. Here are some common signs that you have mice or rats in your home:

  • Rodent droppings
  • Chew holes in clothing, floor boards or pantry items
  • Scratching or rustling noises at night
  • Tracks or greasy smudges near your baseboards
  • Abandoned nests in your bushes and trees

There are a variety of rodent traps you can buy and set up yourself, but they don’t always work. The professionals at Champion Pest & Termite Control can effectively remove the rodents from your home and offer tips on how to prevent future infestations. After treatment, we will seal holes where rodents were entering and thoroughly disinfect the area.
